Color Practice

The goal was to create a muted color scheme—this is done by mixing complementary colors; I got this range of browns by mixing blue violet and yellow orange. The lights lean more toward the warmer hue while the darks toward the cooler blue. The stripe on the right has the same colors but with gray added (these are called toned colors).

This portrait was painted with gouache on a print of a photo's vector outlines—paint-by-numbers style!
